The story of Kama Medical College — who founded it, what we believe in, and the people who lead it.
Kama Medical College was established in 2024 at Vidyanagari Campus, Kambare — on the Shahapur–Kinhavali Road in Thane district, a short distance from Shahapur bus stand and railway station. Its foundation was laid as a single donation by a family that comes from Shahapur's own farming community, with one clear conviction: young people of this taluka should not have to leave home to build a career in healthcare.
Today the college offers the D.Pharm and B.Pharm programmes, both approved by PCI and the Govt. of Maharashtra, and plans to grow into medical education with a proposed MBBS course. Teaching here follows a simple, old-fashioned discipline made effective by modern tools: regular classroom sessions with an experienced pool of faculty, supported by frequent quizzes and group discussions that push every student to think aloud, argue and understand — not merely memorise.
To provide quality pharmacy education that joins rigorous classroom teaching with genuine laboratory and clinical practice; to shape graduates who serve patients with competence, honesty and compassion; and to keep professional healthcare education within reach of students from Shahapur and the surrounding rural talukas of Thane district.
To grow into a respected institution of healthcare education in rural Maharashtra — one whose students carry a research mindset and a habit of enquiry into pharmacy practice, industry and higher studies, and whose presence steadily raises the standard of healthcare available to the community around it.
Four people carry the day-to-day responsibility for this institution. Here is what each of them has to say to students and parents.
Before I ever signed a college document, I learnt discipline on a sports field. As an international gold medalist in Roll Ball — against Pakistan in 2005 and in Africa in 2006 — I saw what steady practice, good coaching and self-belief can draw out of a young person. Kama Medical College is built on exactly that understanding. We hold the responsibility of education seriously, and through our students we try to create a world that is full of promise and hope.
Our constant and earnest attempt is excellence in every aspect of a student's development — academic, professional and personal. A pharmacist carries people's health in their hands, and so we ask of our students the same things sport asked of me: honesty of effort, respect for the team around you, and the patience to master fundamentals. I invite the families of Shahapur and beyond to visit our campus and see this belief at work.
Our duty as a management is to make sure that what is taught inside these classrooms never falls behind what is practised outside them. We promote advanced studies and keep our students updated in the field of pharmacy and healthcare — through a capable teaching faculty, well-equipped laboratories, and a campus environment where a student can study, stay and grow with full attention. I assure every parent that the trust they place in Kama Medical College will be answered with sincere care for their child's education and future.

Ours is a growing institution in the field of pharmacy education, and I want every student and parent to know that my door is open — all are free to approach me with their suggestions and complaints. Both help me make improvements for the upliftment of the institute and the campus.
We shall sign MoUs with well-established pharmacy colleges for student and faculty exchange, and organise industrial visits, seminars, workshops, educational competitions, health camps and visits to research organisations in the field of pharmacy. The college is well equipped with laboratories and a team of dedicated, experienced faculty members who are ever ready to help students in every manner. With the support of PCI, the State Government, the University, our management, staff and students, we aim to achieve real success in the field of pharmacy education.
In pharmacy, knowledge that stays on the page helps nobody. My department's job is to carry each subject from the lecture hall into the laboratory and onward to real practice — so that dispensing, formulation and patient counselling become habits of the hand, not just answers in an examination. Through structured practicals, hospital exposure and continuous assessment, we prepare students for the many careers pharmacy offers, and for the responsibility each one of them carries.
